Before we are off to a picnic with Demola InnoSummer group, we need to finalise couple of interesting elements in our Sensor Assisted Image Tagging project: the Achievements feature. We've already implemented - or our great programmer did - a camera application that actually takes photos and saves them - now.

Installing Windows, installing Ubuntu, installing all the rest of the world. Webcam, opencv, qt (maybe), about 2 second lag with the webcam, laptop about to catch fire every time the cam is started.

Fun, excitement, danger, glamor; all the things one can experience in IS2010 project 8.

In plain English, let's see what we can do with opencv and gesture tracking.

We have been working on our web interface and many things are already working. Registering new users and creating call groups works and we can soon make the first call using our client application.

We have also polished the look of our application using Vilja's graphics and made small adjustments so that the interface is easier to use with a mobile devie.

The first month of the project is over, and things are steadily progressing. The detection algorithms are still a huge challenge, but we have managed to overcome some big obstacles along the way. We have produced some UI design mockups, mainly dealing with the visualization of the detection methods.

worked really hard thru last thursday to friday afternoon but it was worth it got our first prototypes user interface to demoable condition and people really liked it.

We also got some new and interesting ideas what to do as other innosummer projects. These new ideas are quite cool and interesting and also quite doable so hand in dirt!  

Tänään rakkaus-projektimme koki ihanan osittaistäyttymyksensä, kun nuori tamperelaistaiteilija kertoi ilomielin tulevansa osaksi tapahtumaamme. Soittelin mukavalle ja monipuoliselle nuorelle miehelle, jonka mahtavat teokset ovat tehneet vaikutuksen koko työryhmään.

So apparently I've now got myself a project. Gr8.

To briefly sum up events so far, it has mostly been studying new cool stuff. Meaning that for the previous weeks I've been mostly eating research papers. At some point this week we'll be deciding the direction for the next phase of this thing, more about that later.

GStreamer documentation has been finally more than skimmed through. Since that major milestone we've designed the first UI for our application. It's pretty simple but it serves us well at the moment because it was our first sprint where we implemented something.
